Snap Back to Reality

And...school started this morning. I think I may have been the only asshole who didn't walk her kids in. Dude. It was raining. I had two toddlers in pajamas.

Here they are in all of their grown-up glory. Remember what they looked like last year? The year before? Me neither.

All I know is that my daughter, who is really not a tomboy, totally looks like one in the outfit she chose for today. The t-shirt does have rhinestones. If you're Beadazzled, you're kinda girly, right?

Lots of Candles and Holidays

Yesterday was my birthday. When I walked into the kitchen in the morning, my seven year old said: "Mom! When did you get taller?" Gee, I wonder if he's heard that on a birthday or two himself... ************** Also from G: Mom, can we celebrate Hanukkah? No, probably not. We're not Jewish. Oh, darn it! And we don't even speak Jewish... ************** That was followed the next day by: Mom, can we PLEASE just TRY to celebrate Hanukkah and Kwanzaa? ************** Busy day today. We went and bought a new car for me. Updated version of what I had before. New color. And fancy wheels. Mama's got rims. And then we took the big kids to see the Rockettes Christmas show downtown. It was really good. I expected more kids but this was truly an all ages show. Tons of adults there without children. As we crossed the street from the parking garage to the arena, G commented that " Sprint Center looks like a disco ball cut in half ." And I looked. And it does.

A weekend in the 'Dam

We spent the first few days of 2015 in Amsterdam; we'd thought we'd go away somewhere over the holidays and when Oomoo mentioned our favourite city, we thought "Why not?!". I was expecting it to be cold (which it was, but nothing a Swede couldn't handle), but I had no idea how busy the city gets around New Year's. Crowds in London are a given, but I was truly surprised by them in Amsterdam. Anyways, we criss-crossed the city on our bikes, and as a result of it being so cold, I didn't really have my camera at the ready, hence these very random shots. I'm really glad we got to hang out with my friend Z, that I got to see a Vivian Maier exhibition at Foam and that I actually got to practise my Dutch. More pics to come.
