Am I the Last Person to See These?

Whenever I come across a "viral" video on the internet, I always assume that everyone else has seen it. But then my husband - who is a YouTube junkie - somehow missed the original Susan Boyle/Britain's Got Talent video until like three weeks later. I still love that video by the way - not so much for SuBo (as Perez Hilton is stupidly calling her) but for how adorable Simon Cowell is when surprised. Yes, I just said Simon Cowell is adorable.

Anyway, am I the only one who hasn't seen these literal videos yet? They're like my law-school guilty pleasure "Mystery Science Theatre 3000" but set to '80s music. Am I disclosing way too much of my inner nerd here? Shut up.

Lots of Candles and Holidays

Yesterday was my birthday. When I walked into the kitchen in the morning, my seven year old said: "Mom! When did you get taller?" Gee, I wonder if he's heard that on a birthday or two himself... ************** Also from G: Mom, can we celebrate Hanukkah? No, probably not. We're not Jewish. Oh, darn it! And we don't even speak Jewish... ************** That was followed the next day by: Mom, can we PLEASE just TRY to celebrate Hanukkah and Kwanzaa? ************** Busy day today. We went and bought a new car for me. Updated version of what I had before. New color. And fancy wheels. Mama's got rims. And then we took the big kids to see the Rockettes Christmas show downtown. It was really good. I expected more kids but this was truly an all ages show. Tons of adults there without children. As we crossed the street from the parking garage to the arena, G commented that " Sprint Center looks like a disco ball cut in half ." And I looked. And it does.

A weekend in the 'Dam

We spent the first few days of 2015 in Amsterdam; we'd thought we'd go away somewhere over the holidays and when Oomoo mentioned our favourite city, we thought "Why not?!". I was expecting it to be cold (which it was, but nothing a Swede couldn't handle), but I had no idea how busy the city gets around New Year's. Crowds in London are a given, but I was truly surprised by them in Amsterdam. Anyways, we criss-crossed the city on our bikes, and as a result of it being so cold, I didn't really have my camera at the ready, hence these very random shots. I'm really glad we got to hang out with my friend Z, that I got to see a Vivian Maier exhibition at Foam and that I actually got to practise my Dutch. More pics to come.
